In Yekaterinburg teen gangs receive orders to raid shops via telegram-channels
Yekaterinburg teenage gangs that raid shops have centralized management through social networks. Through social networks, they receive instructions and training.
As told EAN Director of Security of the trading network «Monetika» Konstantin Sergeev, recently telegram-channels promoting and stimulating theft - shoplifting have spread. Initially such groups were in «VKontakte», but after mass blocking moved to Telegram.
So, in July 2021, we identified 12 groups and 33 channels devoted to the topic of shopping. The number of participants in these groups is over 41,000. The members of these groups seek out the clients and perpetrators of thefts, exchange information on how to avoid punishment, and even conduct training on how to commit thefts with impunity. They also sell devices and accessories for neutralization of anti-theft systems», - says Konstantin Sergeev.
We sent the list of channels and groups, their topics, owners and participants to the Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation.
Konstantin gives a concrete example of the work of one of the channels. In the messenger there is a group of 274 participants, aimed at the organization and promotion of thefts on the territory of Yekaterinburg. The group received reports from a participant with nickname Thomas Kinayev asking them to bring him to the police, where he is detained for theft. It is worth noting that this person in this group actively advertised himself, took orders for the performance of theft with the delivery of stolen goods and even looked for a partner-(tsu). We were able to learn that on that day a shoplifter was actually brought to the police department of 11 Yekaterinburg for alcohol theft. This time his theft was recorded and the employees of the store detained him», - continues Sergeev.
It turned out that this Thomas Kinayev, previously repeatedly convicted, from the Chelyabinsk region. The security services of shopping centers and trade networks know him well, and thanks to the unified system IAS «STOP-Shoplifter» control his visits, making them control. And such visits and attempted theft quite a few.
Earlier, EAN wrote that in 2021, a wave of juvenile delinquency swept Yekaterinburg. On a regular basis, teenage gangs rob shops of large retail chains such as «Pyaterochka», «Magnit», «Verny», «Kirovsky» and «Monetka». And robberies have a specific purpose - only cigarettes. Neither money in the cashier, nor other products thieves are interested. For 2-3 minutes, they fill their bags with cigarettes for 60 or more thousand rubles and run away. Given that such night raids are carried out by teenagers regularly, and sometimes they «take out» several shops per night, in total, the retail networks have lost millions of rubles.
According to the data, some cigarettes teenagers give for sale to certain outlets, through customers on telegram channels. In addition, the stolen goods probably go to the colonies, as the teenagers may adhere to the ideology of the banned AUE-movement in Russia.
All the members of these teenage groups have long been known to the police, have been repeatedly detained. However, the courts, because of their age or the minor gravity of the offence, have so far for some reason imposed non-custodial sentences on them. Thus, in my opinion, creates a breeding ground for repeated crimes. And a burglary night is not a game or a misdemeanor, it’s a crime that should be punished. According to article 158 of the Criminal Code, deprivation of liberty for up to five years is provided for under article 158. Konstantin Sergeev continues.
